Memory pairs

A game for 2 or more players

This game will reinforce the link between multiplication facts for the 2 times table, doubling and repeated addition. Manipulatives such as Numicon, Cuisenaire or counters can be used to support understanding.

You will need:

  • Multiplying by 2s fact pack: print each page on a different colour of card to make the three sets easier to identify

    • How to play

    Spread out the multiplication cards, and either the doubling or repeated addition cards, face down.

    Players take turns to turn over 2 cards. If they reveal a multiplication card and a doubling (or repeated addition) card that have the same answer, they must say the answer to claim the pair.

    The winner is the person with the most pairs at the end of the game.
