Highest total

A game for 2 or more players

This game gives practise of using doubles and near doubles, and bridging across 10 to add.

You will need:

  • Playing cards, from the 5s up to the 9s
  • For more than 2 players, use the cards from 2 decks

    • How to play

    Shuffle the cards together. Each player draws 2 cards and adds the numbers together to find the total. Learners can be encouraged to look for doubles or near doubles, or to bridge across 10.

    Whoever has the highest total keeps the cards.

    Repeat until there are no cards left in the draw pile. The player who has the most cards wins.
